DNS Therapy
Care Physio is among the first clinics in Bandung to offer DNS-based therapy — an evidence-based approach to movement and rehabilitation.
One blueprint, from infant to adult
- We start from the body's first movement patterns.
- The diaphragm and deep core stabilize together.
- We retrain that pattern — at any age.
DNS therapy (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) is a rehabilitation approach from the Prague School of Rehabilitation that retrains the body's natural stability and movement patterns, the ones we learn automatically as babies. Physiotherapists use it as part of a program for back and neck pain, posture, sports injuries, delayed motor development in children, and recovery after stroke.
What is DNS?
DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) is a rehabilitation approach developed at the Prague School of Rehabilitation. DNS helps restore the body's natural movement patterns and stability — the same patterns we learn automatically as infants.
DNS focuses on activating neurophysiological movement patterns to improve postural stability and motor control — a rehabilitation strategy grounded in the principles of developmental kinesiology and the way our postural–locomotor system matures from infancy.
What is DNS used for?
DNS is not a treatment for one particular disease. It is a way of retraining the body's stability and movement patterns, so it is used as part of a physiotherapy program for complaints such as:
- Lower back and neck pain linked to stability and movement patterns
- Posture problems and scoliosis, as part of a targeted exercise program
- Sports injuries, and recovery after an injury or surgery
- Delayed motor development in babies and children: tummy time, sitting, crawling, walking
- Recovery after stroke and certain neurological conditions: postural control and functional movement
- Balance and independent movement in older adults
- Women's health: the pelvic floor and recovery after childbirth (the DNS Women Health program)
Whether DNS suits your complaint, and how large a part it plays in your program, is decided after an assessment, not from this list. If you have seen "DNS" on a referral or a therapy plan, this exercise method is what it refers to.
The goal of DNS
DNS aims to improve or normalize the quality of:
- Respiratory patterns
- Postural stabilization patterns
- Locomotion patterns
Then integrating proper postural-locomotor and respiratory function into daily activities and sports performance.
Who is it for?
- Infants & children
- Supporting motor development
- Addressing motor development delays
- Improving postural control
- Helping children with certain neurological conditions
- Adults
- Improving posture
- Enhancing trunk stability
- Improving everyday movement efficiency
- Preventing musculoskeletal injury
- Correcting movement-pattern disorders
- Improving joint stability
- Athletes
- Optimizing core stabilization
- Improving force transfer between body segments
- Preventing injury
- Enhancing sports performance
- Neurological patients
- Improving postural control
- Facilitating functional movement
- Improving balance and coordination
- Older adults
- Improving balance
- Reducing fall risk
- Improving postural control
- Maintaining functional independence
Why Care Physio
At Care Physio, DNS therapy is delivered directly by physiotherapists with dedicated DNS training — not generic exercise. We always start with a thorough assessment, build a plan personalized to your body and goals, and review it at every visit.
- DNS-trained physiotherapists. An evidence-based approach from the Prague School of Rehabilitation — not just massage or machines.
- Among the first in Bandung. One of the first clinics in the city to offer DNS therapy.
- Integrated care under one roof. Physiotherapy, psychology, occupational and speech therapy work together — from children to seniors.
- One-on-one care, never one-size-fits-all. A treatment plan tailored to you, in a calm, comfortable space at Paskal 23.
For muscle pain and trigger points, DNS is often combined with dry needling.
Questions about DNS
What conditions is DNS used for?
DNS is used for complaints linked to stability and movement patterns: back and neck pain, posture and scoliosis, sports injuries, delayed motor development in children, recovery after stroke, and balance in older adults. How much of your program it makes up is decided after an assessment.
Does DNS therapy hurt?
DNS is based on active exercises and body positions guided by a physiotherapist, not an invasive procedure, and it is matched to what you can do today. If a position or movement feels uncomfortable, say so and the exercise is adjusted.
How long is a DNS session?
The first session includes a thorough assessment and usually lasts 60–90 minutes. The length and content of follow-up sessions follow the plan agreed after the assessment.
