Where it hurts is often not where it comes from
Shoulder pain coming from the neck. Knee pain coming from how the hip works. Low back pain that appears because the body stopped using its deep muscles to stabilize. These are not rare cases — they are the pattern we see every week.
So the assessment does not stop at the spot you point to. We look at the joints above and below it, at strength, at control, at how you breathe, and at how you actually move when you stand, squat or lift. If the symptoms come on during a particular activity, we ask you to show us.
Without that step, treatment only calms the sore area and the problem returns a few weeks later. That is why a first session here is long.
Your goal decides the program
"Getting better" is not a measurable goal. "Sitting for two hours without pain", "playing padel again on Saturday morning", "picking up my child without bracing for it" — those are. We ask at the start, because the program differs for every answer.
By the end of the session you know three things: what we found, the one or two things worth working on first, and when we will reassess. If there is no progress by that date, it is the plan we change.
What to bring
- Any X-ray, MRI or ultrasound you have — with the radiologist's report
- A list of medication you are taking
- Shorts or clothing that makes the painful area easy to examine
- The shoes you normally train or work in
- A short note: when the pain started, what makes it worse, what eases it
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an X-ray or MRI first?
Often not. A lot of muscle and joint complaints can be assessed hands-on. If you already have images, bring them — but a scan does not always explain the pain: changes visible on MRI are also common in people with no symptoms at all. If what we find points to something that needs imaging, we say so and send you to a doctor.
Will the assessment hurt?
Some tests deliberately reproduce the movement that brings on your symptoms, so there may be a brief moment of discomfort — that is exactly the information we need. But no test continues if you ask us to stop. Say so, and we find another way to get the same information.
How many visits will I need?
We do not sell blocks of sessions upfront. After the assessment we give an honest estimate and a date to reassess, and most of the result still comes from the exercises you do at home. If progress does not match the estimate, that is a reason to change the plan — not a reason to add sessions.
